El Cajon is a city in California located in San Diego County. It is situated about 17-miles to the east of Downtown San Diego. El Cajon is a valley surrounded by glorious mountains giving it the nickname of “The Big Box.” It has a population of over 100,000 people spanning over 14.48 square miles, and in 1912 El Cajon was incorporated as a city.
